The residence of John Abbott Snyder (Snyder Bus Line) and his wife Mabel Darlington Mitchell, 412 North Moffet Ave., Joplin, Missouri. Built in 1905 by W. H. Landreth, it was purchased by the Snyders in 1920. Clara Olive Snyder Shepherd was their daughter. Helen Mitchell was Mabel's sister. The family formerly resided at 302 Moffet Ave. and in Galena, Kansas. They moved to the area from Piqua, Ohio in 1909 to establish a branch of the Blaine Harrow Factory, known as the Galena Harrow Company.

The Darlington-Mitchell-Ormerod family of Cornwall, Ontario, Canada, immigrated to Wellsville, New York during the mid 1800s. Clara Ormerod Swift  (Caudersport, Pennsylvania) married Thomas Darlington Mitchell. They sired four children, Mabel, Harry, Helen and Nell. Nell died in infancy. The family established the Swift Mill in Piqua, Ohio.
