NOTE: The only tried and proven method for teaching yourself how
to write good fiction is to read the short stories of the masters,
then attempt to write a short story of your own, emulating the author's vocabulary and style. It's the time honored way ALL
great authors learned to write. Keep your story line simple,
weaving your story from your own imagination
and life experiences. Economize on words.

Bon Voyage!

Frank Lloyd Wright
1869 - 1959

Frank Lloyd Wright, one of America's foremost architects, did not have a degree in architecture. In fact he did not graduate from college

"Imagination is more important than knowledge."

Albert Einstein
physicist, who developed
the
theory of relativity

.

Albert Einstein

1879 - 1955

Einstein, world renowned physicist, was a lonely and "dreamy" child, who had difficulty making friends and appeared to be autistic. He preferred playing alone with blocks or making houses of cards. He would softly repeat every sentence he uttered, and was not considered fluent in speech even at age nine.

Never given an IQ test, it was Einstein's  opinion that most people don't bother to use the intelligence they possess, that they are
persuaded to let others do their thinking for them.

Lajos Egri

(1888 - 1967)

Born in Hungary, Egri founded the Egri School of Writing in New York City in the 1930s.
He spent his life writing and directing plays in the United States and Europe,
as well as writing screenplays for the film industry.

From the lectures of writer-educator Lajos Egri:

Without exception everyone was born with creative ability.
It is essential that people be given the opportunity to express themselves.

If Balzac, De Maupassant, O. Henry, hadn't learned to write [fiction],
they might have become inveterate liars, instead of great writers.

If we can't create something useful or beautiful
. . . we shall certainly create something else: trouble, for instance.

Only by aiming for perfection in art can you succeed,
even if you never reach your goal.

You may claim that a real genius always finds a way to succeed, but that is not so.
Every individual who has succeeded, despite adversity,
has been given the chance to do so.

Noone is born to be great.
We love one certain subject more than any other.
Given all we need to further our knowledge, we are likely to make great strides,
forced to do something else, we become disgruntled, discouraged,
and end in failure.

Sweden First to Ban
Corporal Punishment

In 1979 Swedish Parliament voted to prohibit the
"right" of parents to chastise their children. Other Nordic nations, including Norway,Finland, Iceland and Greenland enacted similar legislation.
The result? Less crime!

"In a free democracy we use words to educate,
not blows. We talk to people. We do not yell at them,
nor do we humiliate, beat or imprison them.
If we can't convince our children with words
we will NEVER convince them with violence."

Bela Bartok   1881 - 1945
Hungarian Composer-Pianist
Best known for his use of Hungarian folk music
to create a distinctive individual style.  He considered the idea
of God as a bodiless, everlasting and omnipresent spirit, who has

decreed all that has happened in the past and similarly ordains the future,
to be " a muddled notion." He considered the trinity to be a "clumsy fable"
and "mumbo jumbo." not authored by Jesus, who was only a moralist.
