The Eight Basic Precepts

1. It is wise to avoid  the use of alcoholic beverages, tobacco products and hallucinogens.

2.  It is the responsibility of every educated adult to continue to educate one's self and to provide free education to others. Education shall be non-competitive, universal and free.

3. A predominantly vegetarian diet, supplemented with seafood and poultry is the recommended healthy diet of all people.

4. Celibacy is the only sane way to live.

5.  Marriage is a private contract between two consenting adults for the express purpose of creating and nurturing a child or children or for the purpose of sharing life. Celibacy is a sign of intelligence.

6. Silent transcendental meditation is the recommended vehicle for achieving spiritual growth and wisdom.

7. Build houses, not prisons. Use tools, not weapons. Share the work and share the wealth.
It is the right of every human being to not be deprived of home ownership. It is only when our relations with one another are fully mutual and egalitarian that we become free and balanced human beings.

8. There is only one race, the human race.

                                         Philosophy:

The Universal World Congregation of Father Tom  Shepherd, also known as The Egalitarian American Free Gentile Congregation, is the creation of  Thomas Mitchell Blaise Shepherd, Chancellor and President.

The rite of Baptism is unnecessary for membership. The Kingdom of Peace is within you.

Psychiatry is viewed as a barbaric tool of the state, utilized to discredit, to disenfranchise and to exploit those who oppose existing forms of fascism.

The Nordic Universal Creed is recognized. All men and women are created equal, meaning they are to be treated as social equals. True democracy and spirituality cannot exist without absolute economic equality for all people.

The resources of the Earth are to be equally shared by the people of the Earth.

Militarism is non-rational and uncivilized.  Militarism brainwashes young people in order to desensitize them to violence. It teaches them how to kill other people.  A wise and brave man and a wise and brave woman solves problems with tools, not with weapons of any kind.

SOBER, RATIONAL THINKING IS THE  KEY TO SPIRITUALITY.

Biography of Bela Bartok

Note: Bela Bartok considered the trinity to be "clumsy folklore" that "enslaves thought."
He called the conception of God as a bodiless, everlasting Spirit, who has decreed
all that has happened in the past, and similarly ordains the future, to be a "muddled notion."
Jesus was a moralist. It was those who came after him that invented the trinity.. -- Bela Bartok

                                                                The Tom Shepherd Story

Note: Congregation Founder Thomas Mitchell Shepherd is the grandson of Missouri bus line founder John A.Snyder and of Oklahoma banker and oil baron Eugene Frank Blaise. He is the son of Dudley Eugene Blaise-Canterbury, Missouri,  Mexico and Bolivia mining engineer, who abandoned the family soon after Tom's birth. He is the stepson of Charles M. Shepherd, a British-American power company executive, who repeatedly defiled Tom (as did Tom's Christian  neighbors), prior to abandoning the family by committing suicide when Tom was 16 years old. Tom Shepherd is also the son of Hon. Clara Olive Shepherd, Church and civic leader and  musical theatrical producer for civic organizations throughout the USA.. He is the son - grandson of Mabel Darlington Mitchell, Joplin civic leader.

Mr. Shepherd is a great great grandson of Hon. Ignace Hainer, jurist, journalist, linguist and secretary to the Premier of Hungary during Hungary's1848 struggle for freedom of the press, freedom for the serfs,  and independence from the Austrian Hapsburg Empire. He was afterwards imprisoned by the Austrians for five months.

Following his release, Ignace Hainer came to America, where he was soon after appointed as a delegate to the National Convention, then to the position of professor of modern languages at the University of Missouri. He was asked to leave the Univesity during the Civil War because of his heroic opposition to slavery. He thus moved his family to "New Buda" (Garden Grove) Iowa, where he sojourned as a farmer, a teacher, a preacher, and as a member of the Decatur County Iowa Grand Jury.

Mr. Shepherd was baptised at six months of age, then schooled and confirmed in the First Presbyterian Church, Joplin, Missouri. He also attended Bible school at the United Hebrew Congregation in Joplin, then under the leadership of Rabbi Latz..

At the age of 12 he was confirmed in the Episcopal Church at the Parish of St. Philip the Apostle, Joplin, Missouri, whre he served as an altar boy and president of the youth group through high school. He was also selected to be citizenship chairman and president of a Council of Churches interdenominational youth organization, during which time he was highly praised for his leadership in cementing bonds between the American Episcopal Church and the African-American Episcopal Church in Missouri..

He attended the School of Philosophy and Letters of the National University of Mexico in Mexico City, the University of Missouri and the Univerity of Oklahoma College of Arts and Science and the Graduate College, where he concentrated his studies in philosophy, political science, sociology and regional and city planning.

He served with the United State Marine Corps Reserve and with the United States Coast Guard.

He voluntarily separated himself from the Episcopal Church in 1970 after he was threatened and persecuted by members of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Del Mar, California merely for expressing his opinion as a Sunday School teacher that killing -- even in times of state-sanctioned war --  is an un-Christian act -- a defiance of the words of Jesus.

He also objected to the clergy and other church leaders for their use of alcoholic beverages -- potentially dangerous narcotics and health hazards -- in the celbration of Holy Eucharist and for socialization purposes at church parish meetings and other social events and for the clergy's encouragement of younger people to emulate their self-destructive, parasitic lifestyle.

The Episcopal Church -- with its emphasis on public parayer, deference to the wealthy, ostentation, and indifference to the suffering of the poor and disadvantaged, has indeed made a
mockery of the words of Jesus, claims Dr. Shepherd, as do virtually all Protestant and Catholic worshipers, worldwide.

Mr. Shepherd has since founded the Universal Free Gentile Congregation and the American Humanist Buddhist Fellowship,, based on his life investigations and experience.
